Dr Morgan received his Ph.D. from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Analytical Chemistry specializing in Mass Spectrometry. He spent 15 years at Glaxo, GlaxoWellcome, GlaxoSmithKline in North Carolina in various roles in development, manufacturing, and discovery. He worked in aerosol development group helping to bring several products to commercialization through stability testing, impurity and degradation determinations, and NDA product submission. He was responsible for maintaining all his labs under GLP guidelines and FDA inspection tours. Toward the end of his tenure at GSK, he moved to the discovery side of the pharmaceutical business and was the lead for a high throughput screening team and a member of the metabolite identification team.
Dr Morgan moved to Connecticut to work as a lab director and project team leader for Bristol-Myers Squibb for 10 years. In these roles he and his teams assisted several projects to move from proof of concept to initial first in human studies in the infectious disease and neuroscience areas. He was a project co-chair for the alpha 7 nicotinic receptor program a neuroscience area aiming at patient cognition.
He returned to North Carolina and worked for Lorillard Tobacco Company in the Blu e-cig division. Here Dr Morgan was responsible for leading a QC team involved in all aspects of e-cigarette, e-liquid testing, and formulation evaluation. He was responsible for operating the QC labs under GLP conditions.
Dr Morgan has worked as a consultant for several years in the pharmaceutical, environmental, and cannabis areas. He has helped several labs develop test methods, method validation packages, SOPs, lab designs and obtain ISO accreditation . In the cannabis field, he has worked and advised several startup testing labs and growers/processors in the US.
Currently, Dr Morgan is a co-founder and chief scientific officer for Botanica Testing Inc, the premier CBD testing lab located in Gainesville, FL.
