Carlton’s passion is on better elucidating the constituent parts of the cannabis plant in order to expand perspectives on what medicine and recreational cannabis can be. Currently they* are working on developing a diagnostic protocol and application designed to ground cannabinoid products in the broader phyto-horomone context that they exist, in order to create more customized and effective diagnoses and treatment plans. To do this, Carlton has worked alongside their Mother, Dr. Melanie Bone in tracking the efficacy of various marijuana delivery devices in her medical cannabis practice in Florida. The two hope to develop a software that can aid physicians in understanding the significance of different methods of ingestion to different treatment protocols thus raising the standard of marijuana medical care.
By drawing on Dr. Bone’s experience compounding hormones for women alongside Carlton’s intimate knowledge of the endocannabinoid system and cannabis products; the family hopes to create better tools for evaluating the efficacy of marijuana as an integrative aspect of broader women’s healthcare. And towards these ends, the Bones believe that understanding the value of cannabis in a hormonal context while also striving to develop better mechanisms for tracking treatment goals is crucial for the continued growth of this industry. To this end the Bones focus on the role of novel delivery devices such as suppositories and transdermal patches and their role in shaping public perceptions about cannabis medicine and refining our practical understanding of the endocannabinoid system more broadly.
