KEYNOTE – 9:00 am – 10:00 am – Hemp 4.0

Hemp 4.0 is an informative and inspiring presentation that will walk you through hemp, hemp product, and the endocannabinoid system Renaissance.

HEMP 1.0 – 1990-2013

Hemp 1.0 or the re-introduction of the hemp crop into the food consumer markets began in 1990 in Canada. This way in the 1990’s mainstream grocery stores started carrying hemp seed oil and hemp seed protein powder This first step in re-legalization of hemp in the 1990’s and concurrent emergence of the medical cannabis markets in distinct states (California in 1996) and countries (Canada in 2001) resulted in a variety of products and extraction methods.

HEMP 2.0 – 2013-2018

In the Hemp 2.0 period, several companies and brands heroically paved the way for hemp CBD ecommerce distribution in 2013, followed by the appearance of first hemp CBD products in brick and mortars in 2016. It drew significant attention from the regulatory agencies, both FDA and DEA and has positively influenced the mindset of the most conservative politicians

HEMP 3.0 – 2018-Present

Almost concurrent with the approval of the Farm Bill in 2018, hemp CBD market has gone completely mainstream. On the pharmaceutical side, this exponentially explosive business cycle also saw FDA approval of the only plant-derived CBD isolate medication for the Dravet and Lenox-Gastaut epilepsies, rivaling the already available hemp CBD nutraceutical products with a subsidized prescription medicine.

HEMP 4.0 – the Future.

In what shape and form and when does Hemp 4.0 arrive? Does the endocannabinoid system become a Holy Grail of health and wellness?

10:15 am – 11:00 am – How Much is Right for You: The Science of CBD Dosing

One of the challenges in the emerging CBD market is the lack of robust clinical research that can be used to guide dosing guidelines. This is especially problematic in people with comorbidities or on other medications who would like to explore taking these products medicinally too. Even so, crowdsourcing the anecdotal data has allowed companies to devïew by elop a functional measure of how much CBD is needed for different conditions. This system, albeit lacking in strong foundations in clinical trials, in some ways is good enough. But when it comes to a product we want to promote as medication, we have a responsibility to produce real data from which to work off of.

11:15 am – 12:00 pm – So, You Think You Can CBD… (Hemp Derived vs Cannabis Derived CBD and Full Spectrum vs. Broad Spectrum vs. Isolate)

In today’s early stages of the legal hemp marketplace, there are thousands of CBD products available, yet not much in the way of differentiation – at least not knowingly in most cases. All legitimate CBD products contain at least some amount of cannabidiol, but they may also contain (or specifically not contain) other elements, depending on how they’re labeled. In this panel, we examine and specifically define the terms relating to this phenomenon: hemp-derived, cannabis-derived, full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, CBD isolate, and more.

12:00 pm – 12:30 pm – LUNCH BREAK

12:30 pm – 1:15 pm – Get the 411 on Cannabinoid Pharmacology 101

Cannabinoids are wonderful compounds with one very big problem–they are lipophilic, or fat loving. This makes dosing very, very tricky. And why it’s so hard to measure cannabinoid levels in the blood and urine. The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of cannabinoids are greatly affected by various factors, such as the amount and type of food eaten in a given day, whether other substances, including medications, were taken, and how they were consumed (vape, oil, edible, etc.). For these reasons and more, despite decades of research, the best advice to offer new users remains the “start low, go slow” method, which is as unscientific as it comes. And explains why this topic remains red hot in research.

1:30 pm – 2:15 pm – How to increase CBD sales

In the span of less than a decade cannabidiol (CBD) has rapidly risen from a niche market to the status of a global phenomenon, reaching a market valuation of $7 billion in 2019. As markets become increasingly competitive, CBD producers will have to develop innovative methodologies to build their brand and acquire new customers. This panel brings together the industry’s best entrepreneurial minds to discuss insider secrets and techniques to boost CBD sales and ensure brands have a long-lasting impact.

2:30 pm – 3:15 pm – Psychedelics & Cannabinoid Therapeutics: What Does the Future Hold?

Alongside the CBD boom, the functional Mushroom market has experienced a profound amount of growth with certain estimates putting market growth upwards of $35 Billion. Similarly situated to cannabis treatments as both controversial and poorly understood, there remains tremendous potential on the horizon for mycelia like Cordycepin and Psilocybin. As consumers look to herbal treatments for an assortment of ailments and quality of life improves the future of hemp products and mushrooms while regulations take shape the question remains whether or not there is a future for CBD and Mushrooms.

10:15 am – 11:00 am – CBD Advertising – Alternative Methods for an Unconventional Industry

This panel will dive into the ever important yet still strictly regulated world of CBD advertising. Most products available to the public can employ a wide variety of advertising tactics to aide in sales and marketing efforts. CBD, however, falls outside of the norm when it comes to advertising due to the regulations and legalities that still exist on the industry. Widespread acceptance and expansive growth makes changes to these regulations seem inevitable, yet hurdles for advertising CBD products still remain. This panel will focus on highly effective tricks and tactics to get any CBD product the proper advertising necessary to increase audience and brand awareness. Industry insiders will share their advertising knowledge through essential outlets such as print, digital, PR, radio and podcasts.

11:15 am – 12:00 pm – What to Consider When Choosing a White-Labeling Partner

There are a variety of reasons for choosing to white-label your products. White-labeling, also called private-labeling, is the purchasing of a finished product from a company and adding your brand and identity to it. In the hemp and CBD industry, brands choose to white-label oils, isolates, hardware, websites, marketing and advertising content, and more. When choosing your white-labeling partner, shared vision and goals, open communication, transparency and honest reporting, and a good track record of performance are all things you should be looking out for. White-labeling requires strategic thinking and adaptability, and it is paramount that the partner you have in mind can deliver that in a positive way.

As regulation surrounding hemp cultivation and processing takes shape there remains tremendous confusion on both the industry and consumer side surrounding payment processing. Our panel of industry veterans, lawyers, and financial professionals discuss the legal, and practical logistics of merchant processing and banking hemp related monies.

2:30 pm – 3:15 pm – Boost CBD Products with Organic & cGMP Certifications

Wellness consumers in the 21st century are weary of empty promises. Certifications that guarantee exceptional quality are the golden ticket to product recognition and shelf velocity. The two most powerful seals of greatness? Certified organic and certified Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Organic certification indicates that your hemp-derived CBD was not harvested with synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or solvents. Today’s sharp consumers will know that they are investing in sustainability and the future of the planet. cGMP certification regulates manufacturing practices. It demonstrates that your product is clean, safe, and consistent. CBD and cannabinoid products with these certifications leave the competition in the dust. But the journey to certification is nuanced. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Food & Drug Administration (FDA) require that cultivators and manufacturers adhere to specific guidelines and procedures to earn these badges of honor. Fortunately, specialists are available to guide you toward certification — one step at a time.

For example, nerolidol and linalool are useful in treating anxiety, whereas beta-caryophyllene is useful in relieving pain. While some patients may benefit from more one-dimensional CBD products like isolate, the terpenes native to the plant can help augment the benefits of the extracted cannabinoid(s). This panel will discuss the importance of terpenes, and how adding these precious little molecules back into CBD oils can differentiate a product to have a defined medical purpose.
